PHP & eZ Publish Summer Camp 2015 sold out (and a few other information)

by Ivo Lukač -

I am happy to announce that we sold out this year’s Summer Camp last week! We have 2 Camps in 3 days and 3 tracks waiting for you. Here you can find all the information we have regarding the Summer Camp so far. For those of you who don’t have the opportunity to participate in the Summer Camp this year, stay tuned - we will publish online a significant number of workshops during autumn. You will be able to replay the workshops with videos and related git repo.

This year we decided to limit the number of all participants (including the speakers and us from Netgen) to 120. The main reason for setting this limit was to keep providing high-quality workshops. We did not aim to have a big number of participants because having more than 50 people per workshop would bring too much noise and distractions for the speakers - 30 is already a lot to handle :)

Workshops

As has already been mentioned, there will be 120 people from 19 countries, making this Summer Camp our biggest event so far. We have 22 speakers holding 23 sessions, mostly hands-on workshops, in 3 days and 3 tracks, the total of 54 hours.

Preparations are on the way, and we will hopefully have all workshops prepared on a virtual appliance that will be shared with the participants before the Camp. Check the eZ Publish and PHP programmes for more details.

The unofficial part of the Camp will be front-end meetups at the hotel’s terrace (if there is no rain) every day after lunch. Although the Camp is almost completely back-end technology oriented, some of the companies are combining their team building with the Camp, so don’t be surprised if you see many people there :)

DebugMan Triathlon

Workshops require a lot of sitting, so to counter all that physical inactivity we are organizing a recreative triathlon. The stages of the triathlon will be held every morning. On the first day we will swim for 200 meters, on the second day we will make a bike tour of 9 km, and on the third we will run for 2 km.

Participation is optional and there is no competition. Everybody who finishes all three stages of the triathlon will be getting a reward. For some, it might be physically challenging if they are not in shape, and for some it will be tough to wake up, seeing how we start each morning at 7:30 :)

By the way, we call this the DebugMan Triathlon ;)

Want to go to Web Summit in Dublin? Submit your short presentation and you might just do

We will have joint sessions every day after workshops. Similar to last year, we will have a Celebrity Debate and a round-table session we call Meet the Experts.

On the second day, we will have an unconference session where the participants have the chance to submit a topic which they present in 5-10 minutes. There will be an online vote to choose which topics will be presented. All presenters will get a small prize while the highest rated speaker will get a ticket to WebSummit in Dublin. Reason enough to apply, don't you think? :)

Busy evenings

Every evening you will be provided with an occasion to network. On the first day, you will have an opportunity to attend a complimentary wine tasting. On the second day, we will gather around some cocktails, and on the final day we will summon you all to La Concha restaurant to close the event and do some raffling like last year. Traditional meeting point after everything closes is the pier - there is even an unofficial pier songs repo :)

Traditional Boat trip

Same as every year, we organized a complimentary boat trip to relax our bodies and minds after three hard days of learning. This year we will sail to the nearby town of Poreč. Snack lunch will be served on the boat with some relaxing summer tunes. There will be a tourist guide at our disposal to tell us about the town.

Sponsors FTW

All this would be much harder to organize without our dear sponsors. Thank you all for your support!

Our gold sponsor again is eZ Systems (Norway), creator of eZ Publish and the upcoming eZ Platform. We have 4 silver sponsors this year. ETECTURE (Germany), CJW Network (Germany/Switzerland) and Keyteq (Norway) are sponsoring us once again while Prime (Switzerland) is our sponsor for the first time.

Our bronze sponsors are supporting us with speaker expenses and raffles: KNP University (USA), Blackfire (France), JetBrains (Czech Republic), Exove (Finland), Lakion (Poland), Zend (USA), Ideato (Italy), Locastic (Croatia), Trikoder (Croatia), Kaliop (France).

All of them will be at the Camp, feel free to meet them :)

Thank you for being a part of our biggest Summer Camp yet. See you in a few days!
