ProSiebenSat.1 Digital is part of ProSiebenSat.1 group, the largest German network of online media with 20 different brands, such as SAT1.de, ProSieben.de, kabeleins.de, MyVideo.de, lokalisten.de, maxdome.de, sixx.de, oktoberfest.de, reise.com, wetter.com, etc.
Being part of a big media group, the digital content ProSiebenSat.1 Digital needs to handle is massive: from TV content teasers, video commercials and teletext to specialised niche content with brands like OktoberFest. In order to manage it, they have an always improving internal system for all kinds of content that is afterwards being distributed to various channels.
The main challenge was to make content publishing automatic as much as possible, as well as to monetize all content via classics ads, video pre-rolls, and other kinds of technologies which require deep integration of the ads system with distribution channels like websites, mobile apps, etc.
We started working for ProSiebenSat.1 Digital in 2011. We were involved in a pilot project where they were testing eZ as a web platform. In the meanwhile, they migrated most of their websites to eZ Publish CMS.
As eZ specialists, we are working on building an eZ instance for rolling out niche websites. Our primary focus is to integrate it with the ProSiebenSat.1 Digital's content APIs to make the websites operate automatically to a certain extent (but still with a lot of editorial features left when needed) and with the ads system to provide content monetization.
