Site API for eZ Platform is a thin layer on top of the eZ Content Repository API. It provides simple to use features for eZ developer’s everyday work by reducing a lot of boilerplate code, thus saving time and simplifying maintenance.
Let’s start the new year by marking Web Summer Camp 2018 in our calendars for another summer week filled with quality hands-on workshops.
A while ago, our partners at Keyteq decided not to support their own solution for hosting and transforming images anymore and came to us with an idea to reimplement the solution using a cloud service called Cloudinary. We jumped at the opportunity and decided to come up with a little more generic solution together with our friends at Effectiva, with the idea of a feature that could, in the end, be reusable with different cloud providers – enter Netgen Remote Media.
A lot of existing eZ projects are still using eZ Publish legacy stack, fully or partially – it is an eZ ecosystem reality. A typical eZ project tends to be big, long living, and complex, so rebuilding everything might not be a viable solution. The more realistic path is upgrading the site to the newest eZ version and refactoring it step by step until getting rid of all legacy code. This is where Netgen Admin UI with the Legacy Bridge comes in handy.
After a lot of thought and discussions, we finally decided to make our Admin UI available to the public. It should serve as a smoother migration path to the new eZ Platform era for many existing eZ Publish projects.
After using the old eZ Publish administration for more than a decade, it seemed that the journey will come to an end. The new eZ Platform UI revolution should have put the old dog out of business by now. That hasn't happened yet, so we gave this old dog a new life in such manner that it could still be used on many projects.
Dear Campers, Super Early Bird tickets for Web Summer Camp 2017 are out! Check out all 2017 news and see you in Rovinj August 30-September 2!
In several recent projects we had been asked to implement ‘Login with Facebook’, ‘Login with Google’ functionality into eZ Publish 5 and eZ Platform, so we decided to go ahead and develop our own bundle based on HWIOAuthBundle.
We at Netgen and Salsa Adria Productions are ready for another #websc adventure, are you? :) The website is out, we know the time and the place, and are looking for speakers and sponsors. We've also released all 2016 PHP and eZ Publish workshop videos, check them out!
Netgen has implemented and maintained eZ Tags, the taxonomy solution for eZ Publish legacy. Some work was done to support the same feature after the eZ Platform release, at least on the field type level, but a full eZ Platform UI support is still missing. We are now launching a crowdfunding campaign to finish implementing the Tags Bundle and open source it to the community.
After a lot of work on rebranding the Summer Camp, we focused on assembling valuable workshops and other activities. Earlier this month the program was completed with the whole schedule available online. We also added info about the extras and, what is very interesting, we received enough requests for the Companion track, so we can confirm it will happen.
A few months ago, we announced the date and location for our 2016 Summer Camp event. We’ve been organizing the event since 2012 under the name eZ Publish Summer Camp. In 2014, we added PHP topics and adjoined PHP Summer Camp to it. This year, with the complex process of developing web solutions in mind, we added one more topic that is related to web design and decided to group the topics under one umbrella brand: Web Summer Camp.
